About Me
Shalaka is an early stage performance designer & art director based across London and Mumbai. She trained as an architect, graduating in 2021 from University of Mumbai (Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture), and later went on to pursue a postgraduate degree from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London in MA Scenography in 2025.
She started her journey in set design through narrative and branding projects. She has worked across film and television, commercials, stage and installation over the past 4 years. Her work is rooted in the interaction of form and body, finding the unique space where geometry meets narrative, and crafting spaces that blur the boundary of reality and the imagined.
Currently exploring: theatre design and design for performance, particularly through a lens of social impact, community practices and collaborative practices across formats.
